Come See the Danish Christmas Tree at Navy Pier’s Winter WonderFest in Chicago through January 12, 2014

The Danish Pioneer Newspaper staff has not only been busy working on the newspaper’s big holiday issue, but they also took a quick break to zoom down to Navy Pier in Chicago to decorate the Danish Christmas Tree this holiday season for the 13th Annual Winter WonderFest presented by Bank of America.

The Danish tree’s beautiful white stars and colorful heart baskets were made through a joint community project of the Danish Sisterhood and the residents of The Danish Home of Chicago, and The Danish Pioneer Newspaper is the ornament keeper and decorator each year. The presentation of the ethnic trees is in cooperation with the Consulate General of Denmark.

While it might be cold outside in Chicago, Winter WonderFest is packed with visitors indoors at Navy Pier. The festival runs from December 6, 2013 to January 12, 2014.

Winter WonderFest is FREE to enter, but anyone who is participating in a ride or activity is required to purchase a wristband, no matter their age. The festival is closed on Christmas Day (Wednesday, December 25, 2013).

You can spend an entire day at Navy Pier. It is also home to the IMAX Theatre, Chicago Children’s Museum, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, and Amazing Chicago Funhouse Maze, as well as a variety of shops and restaurants.

Please visit www.winterwonderfest.com and  www.navypier.com for more information.

If any of The Danish Pioneer’s readers do have a chance to visit Navy Pier’s Winter WonderFest 2013, please send us an e-mail at dpioneer@aol.com and let us know how you enjoyed the event (and send us a photo when you find the Danish Christmas Tree so we can get an update on how the Danish Christmas Tree is doing.)
