‘The Hunt’ Tops Local Robert Awards in Denmark

THE HUNT and SEX, DRUGS AND TAXATION took home the most awards, when the Danish Film Academy on Sunday evening, January 26, 2014 at the Tivoli Hotel & Congress Center handed out the coveted ROBERT awards for the 30th time.

With seven awards THE HUNT dominated the ROBERT show, taking among others Best Feature Film, Best Actor for Mads Mikkelsen and veteran Susse Wold was honored as Best Supporting Actress, while Thomas Vinterberg took the awards for Best Director and Best Screenplay, the latter together with Tobias Lindholm.

Christoffer Boe’s SEX, DRUGS AND TAXATION nabbed a total of four ROBERT awards, including one for Nicolas Bro as Best Supporting Actor. Helle Fagralid received her first ever ROBERT award for Best Actress for her role in SORROW AND JOY, while ONLY GOD FORGIVES took home three awards for Best Score, Best Sound Design, and Best Cinematography.

The superhero movie ANTBOY won for Best Children and Youth Feature as well as Best Visual Effects.

In the television categories, which was introduced in 2013, BROEN II grabbed most of the acting awards as Sofia Helin won Best Actress, Kim Bodnia Best Actor and Camilla Bendix Best Supporting Actress. However, it was BORGEN III that won Best Danish TV Series and that series’ Christian Tafdrup Best Supporting Actor. The ROBERT for Best Short TV Series went to RYTTERIET II.

Mira Jargil’s controversial DREAMING OF A FAMILY was awarded Best Feature Documentary, while Daniel Dencik’s TAL R: THE VIRGIN won for Best Short Documentary. The Academy also celebrated the Danish short film productions by awarding Best Short Fiction/Animation to Jens Dahl’s 2 GIRLS 1 CAKE and Best Long Fiction/Animation to Johan Stahl Winthereik’s WEEKEND DAD.

Line Producer Karen Bentzon was greeted with standing ovations when director Susanne Bier presented her with an Honorary ROBERT in recognition of Bentzon’s great contribution to Danish Films through more than 40 years – including films like Babette’s Feast, In A Better World and The Hunt.

The YouSee Audience awards went to THE HUNT for Best Drama and ALL FOR TWO for Best Comedy.
