
Elk Horn Mayor Stan Jens and the Danish Windmill’s Lisa Steen Riggs head to Denmark
Elk Horn, Iowa’s Mayor Stan Jens and the Danish Windmill’s Manager Lisa Steen Riggs, well-known from the popular TV documentary “Denmark on the Prairie”, will be heading to Denmark August 13 – 20, 2014 to talk about the Midwestern Danish village of Elk Horn and the old Danish Windmill from Nørre-Snede that is now located in western Iowa.
On Sunday, August 17 at 2 p.m., they will be giving a presentation at Nørre-Snede Skole, Skolegade 2, 8766 Nørre-Snede Municipality. The arrangement is free and open to everyone. There will be coffee and cookies. The presentation will be in English, but the main points will be translated into Danish.
Stan Jens and Lisa Riggs are also planning to attend an awards ceremony, where “Denmark on the Prairie” is nominated for Best Documentary at the Copenhagen TV Festival at the Tivoli Congress Center on August 14 and 15. The guests from Iowa will also visit some foundations, sponsors and businesses in search of support for Elk Horn and the Danish Windmill. Lisa Riggs will also be doing some buying of Danish products for the Danish Windmill Gift Shop.

DANISH STORY: Nørre Snede får besøg fra ” Det Vilde Vesten”
Søndag d. 17. august kl. 14.00 i Nørre-Snede skoles aula, kommer museumsinspektør, Lisa Steen Riggs, og borgmester Stan Jens … kendt fra TV dokumentaren: ”Danmark på prærien”, og fortæller om den amerikanske danskerby Elk Horn, og deres gamle mølle fra Nørre-Snede.
Arrangementet er gratis og for alle interesserede.
Der vil være kaffe og småkager sponsoreret af Super Brugsen og Kelsen.
Foredraget er på engelsk, men hovedpointerne vil blive oversat til dansk.
