The Danish-American Business Forum (DABF) held a Roundtable Discussion with the Danish Minister for Trade & Development on August 22, 2014 at Eigtveds Pakhus in conjunction with the Danish Foreign Ministry, Copenhagen, Denmark.
Among the topics discussed were U.S., EU and Danish Trade.
Guests included the U.S. Ambassador to Denmark Rufus Gifford, Danish Minister for Trade & Development Mogens Jensen, DABF Director Einar Dyrhauge and the Danish Ambassador to the USA Peter Taksøe-Jensen.
According to the Danish Foreign Ministry, ” ‘ It’s morning again in America’. To make sure Danish companies get the full advantage, the Trade Council has launched growth initiatives related to export, investments and innovation in the US. Meanwhile the EU and US are negotiating a trade agreement that aims to remove trade barriers, stimulate investment and support jobs and economic growth on both sides of the Atlantic. DABF hosted a roundtable so members could engage directly with the Minister, along with US Ambassador to Denmark, Mr. Rufus Gifford, and Danish Ambassador to the US, Peter Taksøe-Jensen. They voiced their perspectives of DK-US relations both in relation to UM’s concrete growth initiatives and the TTIP agreement.”
The Roundtable focused on:
* The vision for Denmark’s export and foreign direct investment strategy
* US-EU Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership (TTIP) and how it affects Danish companies
* The new Growth Initiative and the strategy for allocation of Trade Council funds to support the overall goals
* Sector specific challenges and opportunities in the US market: life science, cleantech, IT, consumer etc.
