
North American Kringle Competition Trophy will be awarded today
More bakeries have entered the North American Kringle Competition, which is being held today Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at HotelRED, 1501 Monroe Street, Madison, Wisconsin 53711.

Entrants include Andersen’s Danish Restaurant and Bakery in Santa Barbara, CA; Kirsten’s Danish Bakery in Burr Ridge, IL; Clasen’s European Bakery in Middleton, WI; Uncle Mike’s Bake Shoppe in Green Bay, WI; Olsen’s Danish Village Bakery in Solvang, CA; O&H Danish Bakery in Racine, WI; The Danish Mill of Washington Island, WI, Old World Pastries Plus in Little Suomico, WI, The Danish Inn in Elk Horn, Iowa, Racine Kringle Company and Cajun Kringle in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The North American Kringle Competition will be a special feature of the debut party for Eat Smart in Denmark, a culinary guide to Danish cuisine co-authored by Carol “Orange” Schroeder of Orange Tree Imports and her daughter Katrina Schroeder.
A professional panel of judges will select the champion, and attendees will be invited to sample kringle from around the country to vote for their favorite.
An exclusive kringle-flavored frozen custard by Michael’s will also be featured along with Kringle Cream liqueur from Death’s Door Distillery and samples of æbleskiver, smørrebrød and other Danish foods.
