OBITUARY: In Memory of Danish Royal Guard Ernst G. Harboe, 1919-2014, of Northfield, Illinois

In Memory of Ernst Gunnersen Harboe, 1919-2014 – 

A longtime friend of The Danish Pioneer Newspaper and the entire Danish community, Ernst Gunnersen Harboe, 95, of Northfield, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of family on October 16, 2014.

Ernst was a native of Copenhagen, Denmark, born on October 15, 1919. He was a proud member of the Danish Royal Guard, and he was a “Great” Dane with a wonderful smile.

Ernst was the beloved husband of 66 years to Suzanna Harboe (nee Dobyns), devoted father of Hans (Marrietta) Harboe, Thomas “Gunny” (Patsy Dimm) Harboe, and Frederik (Catherine Becker) Harboe. He was the proud “Farfar” of Graham, Henry, Brory, and Louis Harboe, and the dear brother of Karen Lis (Knud) Wissum.

A memorial service is scheduled on Saturday, November 1 at 1 pm at The Episcopal Church of St. James the Less, 550 Sunset Ridge Rd, Northfield, IL 60093.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the church. All Honor to his Memory!
