SEATTLE NEWS: Midsommer Celebration set for Sun., June 21 with Nordic Heritage Museum
The Nordic Heritage Museum in Seattle, Washington will bring children’s activities, museum objects and materials to the Ballard Farmer’s Market in Bergen Place on Sunday, June 21st, 2015. Midsommer, also known as the summer solstice, is celebrated throughout the world, but is particularly important in Nordic countries. The celebrating of midsommer is a significant occasion that symbolizes the end of the long dark winters. Join the Nordic Heritage Museum and do as the Nordics do – cross your fingers for good weather and brace for good times during the longest day of light.
Nordic Heritage Museum staff and volunteers will be at the Ballard Farmer’s Market with children’s activities and information about the range of activities and classes at the museum, as well as information on plans for our new facility.
Kids and parents can enjoy Nordic-themed crafts and activities, troll photos, dala horses, coloring and learning about Nordic Museum objects at Bergen Place / Ballard Farmer’s Market from 10 am-3 pm Sunday, June 21, 2015.
ABOUT THE NORDIC HERITAGE MUSEUM: With over 65,000 visitors annually, the Nordic Heritage Museum is a cultural treasure in the Pacific Northwest. It is the only museum in the United States that represents the cultural heritage of all five Nordic countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The Museum’s mission is to share Nordic culture with people of all ages and backgrounds by exhibiting art and objects, preserving collections, providing educational and cultural experiences and serving as a community gathering place. The Nordic Heritage Museum presents a wide range of vibrant programs including contemporary art exhibitions, outstanding concerts, lectures and films and a variety of special events throughout the year.

Admission: $8 general; $7 seniors & college students; $6 children 5 and older;
FREE for children under 5 and Museum members; free on first Thursdays.
