Carlsberg hosts the latest Pop-up shops in Copenhagen
By Nina Miller Sanchez, Fashion Buzz Now, Staff Writer for The Danish Pioneer Newspaper —
This summer there are so many amazing flea markets in Denmark and if you are in the mood for browsing, exploring, finding things you never knew existed or just want to meet interesting people, then go to the flea market.
Carlsberg (the old brewery near Valby and Vesterbro) has pop-up shops, big and small vendors setting up camp right in their 1500 square meters backyard and holds 69 stalls.
The first stop is in a huge parking lot under the loading docks of the truck entrance which makes this experience such a nice place to take cover from the rain or the sun. It’s alive and energetic and everyone is excited and fixated on other peoples’ used belongings. It is actually very exciting when you browse the racks and tables and realize you have just fallen in love with that silver owl necklace or that beat up old vintage hat that reminds you of the movie Annie Hall.
These vendors are here to play with you and they are more than willing for you to make them an offer. They are generous and very reasonable.
Carlsberg Flea market is located at Tap 1 Building in Carlsberg. Open from 10-4pm every Sunday during summer. (Rain or Shine)
On the other side of the parking lot
Now we go to the other side of the parking lot where you find Boxland Bazaar. Here you will find a make-shift beach resort with sand and a DJ, bars, restaurants, pop-up-shops and sellers of all types selling antique treasures, vintage and used clothing – all in these large blue storage container boxes.
There are so many spots that make you want to stop and hang. I met a mother and daughter act who welcome you to sit and relax, browse their racks and have a talk, not necessarily in that order. They described their space as a comfortable place to take a break and be amongst the flowers from the market next door that are placed so carefully as if to invite you to have a seat. Check out these pop-up shops when you stop by.
Sabine and Hanna own a pop-up called Queen Of Heart & Soul Vintage & Recycling. Betty Dart, who sells sometimes and always visits, is an art designer by day and Shannon Bethel is a clairvoyant who also has a booth with women’s accessories and clothing.
Boxland promises to host events like concerts and entertainment throughout the summer.
Every Saturday and Sunday 10am- 5pm From May 05,- Sept 29, 2013.
