Dear Reader,
You really do not want to miss it. It being the 4th conference being sponsored and arranged by the Danish American Heritage Society which will be held October 10 -12, 2013 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Over 10 years ago when the first conference was announced for Omaha, I was asked by a young Danish-American if I was going and I commenced to demur about taking time off until she gently but persistently reminded me that if we wish for these informative and substantive conferences to periodically take place … we have to support them.
As with the first 3 conferences, an outstanding group of presenters have been assembled on a wide variety of subjects grouped around one theme, so there is something to appeal to all interests.
This year’s theme is Innovation. Most importantly it addresses many of the questions every western nation faces dealing with environmental challenges inherent in mature industrial economies. So we will not be lost in some esoteric obscure aspect of our heritage but rather be placed right in front of the challenges in our world today.
There will be more articles forthcoming on the conference, but for now please visit:
http://www.grandview.edu/dahs or call 1-800-444-6083, ext. 2846. Questions, you can also e-mail: DAHSconference@grandview.edu.
I hope we can make these conferences a popular and important 21st century tradition within the Danish-American community.
