Meet The Editors
The Danish Pioneer Newspaper is a labor of love for the Steffensen family of Hoffman Estates, IL. Publisher Elsa Steffensen was born in Silkeborg, Denmark and her daughters, Editor Linda Steffensen and Webmaster Elizabeth Steffensen, are born in Chicago and have grown up with the Danish-American culture and traditions. They travel to Denmark frequently and have a large, extended family all over Denmark.
Linda and Elizabeth’s father Chris Steffensen hailed from Vinderup, Denmark and he served as editor of The Danish Pioneer Newspaper for 20 years before his passing in 2001 and then Linda took over the editor-in-chief role. The Steffensen family is very involved in the Scandinavian community in the USA and feel they have the best of both worlds with their Danish heritage, Scandinavian connections and American gusto & dreams.
The Steffensen Family appreciates your support in preserving and promoting The Danish Pioneer – the oldest Danish community newspaper in North America – established in 1872 in Omaha, Nebraska.
Enjoy!
