#13 The Danish Pioneer’s Countdown to Christmas 2014: Royal Copenhagen Christmas tables on view in Denmark

The Royal Copenhagen Christmas Tables exhibition is one of the most popular Christmas events in Copenhagen. Every year, the tables are set by different artists and celebrities and the tables are on display on the first and second floor in the Royal Copenhagen flagship store.
The tradition began in 1963 and has since been very popular. Six tables, each with their wonderful story, provide a creative view of Christmas.
Traditionally, well-known artists have been invited to interpret their favorite Christmas table setting. And they are free to choose from any of Royal Copenhagen’s comprehensive collection of iconic porcelain, sophisticated figurines and historical collectibles.
This year, the holiday tables are presented in collaboration with Julemærkefonden (the Danish Christmas Seal Foundation), which works to improve the lives of hundreds of children every year. The worthy cause has inspired a series of whimsical and thought-provoking table settings where there is room for recycling, enchantment and harmony.
This year’s celebrity tables are on view until the end of 2014
The enchanting series of Christmas tables and delightful exhibits are created this year by television host and actor Signe Lindkvist, author and designer Shane Brox, Hollywood darling Ole Henriksen, lifestyle expert Anne Glad, dancer Thomas Evers Poulsen and the creator of this year’s Christmas seal, graphic artist Jakob Kühnel.
They each present their own personal approach to Christmas, ranging from dining at an angel castle or being surrounded by fanciful monsters and whimsical shapes, to celebrating your inner diva inside a giant Christmas snow globe where you are encouraged to sprinkle yourself with snow as part of the exhibit.
Send your Christmas greetings from the exhibition
During the exhibition period, a part of the Royal Copenhagen store has been transformed into a post office, where you can buy Christmas cards and seals as well as send heartfelt holiday greetings to your loved ones.
