By Linda Steffensen, The Danish Pioneer’s Newspaper Editor –

What special place for Danish-Americans reached its 30th anniversary in 2013?

What iconic landmark celebrated its 100th birthday in 2013?

Which world-famous amusement park marked its 170th birthday in 2013?

The answers are the Museum of Danish America (the Danish Immigrant Museum) in Elk Horn, Iowa, which celebrated its 30th anniversary with grand outdoor festivities on the museum grounds on June 22, 2013.

The Little Mermaid in Copenhagen celebrated her 100th birthday in style on August 23, 2013.

World-famous Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, which was founded on August 15, 1843, marked its 170th birthday this past summer.

The Danish Pioneer Newspaper had a chance to visit all three of these special places in 2013 and wish the Museum of Danish America, The Little Mermaid and Tivoli Gardens “Happy Round Birthdays”!

Congratulations and many more!
