40 Years as Denmark's Queen

On January 14, 2012, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II marked her 40th Jubilee as Denmark’s regent. On King Frederik 9th’s death on January 14, 1972, the Throne passed to Her Majesty Queen Margrethe 2. The demise of the Crown was announced on January 15 from the balcony of Christiansborg Palace by Prime Minister Jens Otto Krag. In 2012, H.M. The Queen’s 40th Jubilee was marked by an official program from January 13 – 15. Queen Margrethe is a popular and active monarch, who keeps a busy schedule.
