The Danish Pioneer has been in contact with Helene Cortez, Director Delegation Services – Languages of the Special Olympics World Games Los Angeles 2015, and she has shared images of the athletes from the Special Olympics and informs us that they are looking for Danish-speaking individuals willing to volunteer their time since they know the culture and can speak the language with the Danish Delegation.

“Special Olympics is the global leader for people with intellectual disabilities,” states Helene Cortez. “We are holding the world’s largest sports and humanitarian event in the world capital for media and entertainment in 2015, uniting the world through sports in a celebration of the abilities and accomplishments of people with intellectual disabilities and forming a new global vision of acceptance.”

She adds, “This is an extraordinary event where 7,000 athletes with Intellectual Disabilities from 177 countries will compete against each other. It is a time for inclusion and acceptance for individuals with Intellectual Disabilities. A time to make them feel special and important. A time to make them Stars! The Danish community can be a part of most amazing International Event ever in Los Angeles, supporting athletes and coaches representing Denmark in the Special Olympics World Summer Games. This is a unique and once in a lifetime opportunity.”
