A Christensen Family Gathering and 75th Birthday Surprise Held in Chicago – and Wrigley Field
July 11 – 13, 2014 was a surprise weekend of activity honoring the 75th birthday of Norman Christensen, a past president of Danish Brotherhood Lodge #35 and committee member at The Danish Home of Chicago.
Family and friends converged at the Christensen residence on West 104th Street in Chicago on Friday evening, July 11, and the surprise was exposed with the group singing of “Han Skal Leve” as they paraded up the driveway to the Christensen’s backyard entertainment center.
The evening repast consisted of Pizza and Carlsberg.
Although some family members missed the opportunity on Saturday morning to play the Starboard course at Harborside Golf Course due to rain, others shopped and toured.
The afternoon was set aside for good old visiting and reminiscing.
Then it was off to a local restaurant for dinner and then back to the residence for birthday cake.
On Sunday after church, the large family group boarded a charter bus taking them to Wrigley Field to watch the family favorite Chicago Cubs.
It was a beautiful day at Wrigley Field, but unfortunately the Cubs lost.
And as is always the case, it was time for good-byes and thanks for a great family time together.
While some of the family members continued on for a couple of days of sight-seeing, others on Sunday and Monday traveled back home to Colorado, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Massachusetts.
Happy Birthday to Norman Christensen on his 75th birthday from The Danish Pioneer Newspaper!
