ALERT: Swedish Ambassador to Visit Swedish American Museum in Chicago on May 21, 2014

Swedish ambassador visiting Chicago as part of Great Swedish-American Road Trip –

Björn Lyrvall, Sweden’s ambassador to the United States, will visit Chicago’s Swedish American Museum on Wednesday afternoon, May 21, 2014. His appearance at the Museum at 5211 N. Clark is part of a Great Swedish-American Road Trip.

Ambassador Lyrall’s distinctive blue-and-yellow bus is scheduled to be parked in front of the Museum from 4 to 6 p.m. He will be accompanied by other Swedish dignitaries and members of his staff.

The two-fold purpose of the Midwest tour from May 18 to 23 is to exchange ideas with Americans and to promote trade and investment between the United States and countries of the European Union.

Other Chicago events include a mini-festival at Tribune Tower Plaza, Sweden Day at Volta Elementary School, a luncheon discussion with the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce, and a meeting with U.S. Representative Randy Hultgren, head of the Swedish caucus in Congress.

Sunday, June 1, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Family Fest benefit for the Andersonville water tower fund, with games for children and food concessions, in the Museum parking lot, Foster and Ashland.

Friday through Sunday, June 6-8: The 49th annual Andersonville Midsommarfest celebration with free admission to the Museum and ethnic music and dance; access www.andersonville.org for a complete schedule.

Note: The Museum will be closed Monday, May 26, for Memorial Day
