Annual Danish Constitution Day Festival set for Saturday, June 7, 2014 at The Danish Home in Croton-on-Hudson, New York
Come celebrate Grundlovsdag at the Danish Home at Croton-on-Hudson!
Join us on SATURDAY, JUNE 7, 2014! This annual festival celebrates Danish Constitution Day on the beautiful picnic grounds of the Danish Home, in Croton-on-Hudson, New York. The day begins at 11 am with a Danish church service with Pastor Julie Sløk of the Danish Seamen’s Church in Brooklyn. Vendors open at noon. Admission and parking for the event are free.
(Take note that this event has been scheduled for Saturday, not Sunday, this year.)
Food vendors will sell delicious and homemade Danish foods including traditional Danish smørrebrød (open-faced sandwiches), frikadellar (meatballs), and wienerbrød (Danish pastry), as well as grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, strawberries & cream, Carlsberg beer, and non-alcoholic refreshment. Also for sale will be handmade crafts, assorted Danish Home souvenirs, clothing, homemade leverpostej, and much more.
The festival will feature esteemed keynote speaker Flemming Heilman – and live musical entertainment by the Swedish Meatballs. Other special attractions are field games for children, Tombola (prizes of all sizes), the Art Barn, and the annual RAFFLE.
Peter Hessellund-Jensen is giving a short talk on a very important and interesting subject of interest to almost everybody in the Danish-American community in the Tri-State area: the prospects and implications of the dual Danish/US citizenship legislation expected to be considered in the Danish parliament this fall.
