Danes to participate in Norwegian Constitution Day Parade in Park Ridge, Illinois on Sunday, May 18

Come enjoy Scandinavian entertainment in Hodges Park during the early afternoon

To help our Norwegian friends celebrate the special 200th Anniversary of the Signing of the Norwegian Constitution, several groups, including The Danish Sisterhood, The Danish Home of Chicago, Scandinavian Park, Inc. NFP and the Friends of the Viking Ship, will be participating in the Norwegian Constitution Day Parade on Sunday, May 18, 2014 in Park Ridge, Illinois.

The line-up begins at 12 p.m. at Talcott and Cumberland in Park Ridge with kick-off at 1 p.m. Participants then march north on Cumberland to Prairie Avenue to Main Street and around Hodges Park past the City Hall and the Reviewing Stand, where the parade ends.

Hodges Park festivities begin at 12 p.m. NOON for everyone with performances by the Scandinavian Children’s Group, Merula Chorus, Chicago Spelmannslag, and Magic by Bibik. Refreshments, sales and informational booths will be open from 12 p.m. NOON to 3:30 p.m. Balloons and face-painting for children will also be available. Programming after the parade will include greetings by special guests, presentation of scholarship winners, and folk dancing by Leikarringen “Heimhug”.
