Danish American Athletic Club in Illinois is ready for a busy Fall 2013

With summer almost over, the Danish American Athletic Club in Arlington Heights, Illinois is ready with a new Fall 2013 schedule — and a new dues structure. Actually the dues have been cut in half, and this will hopefully be welcome news to old members – and entice new members. The Monday night gymnastics classes will be held, if enough kids sign up.

The season started with participation at the big Scandinavian Day Festival at Vasa Park in South Elgin, IL on Sunday, September 8.

On Thursday, September 19, DAAC will co-sponsor the annual Golf Outing at Stonewall Orchard Golf Course in Grayslake, IL together with The Danish Home of Chicago.

On Monday, October 21, there will be a general business meeting at the Knight of Columbus Hall in Arlington Heights, IL at 7 pm.

The DAAC Anniversary Party with Dania will be held at Al’s Cafe, 43 DuPage Court in Elgin, IL on Friday, October 25 at 6:30 p.m at a cost of $35 for everyone. PLEASE NOTE this is a new date. The Anniversary Party will feature authentic Scandinavian cuisine (with a choice of North Atlantic salmon from Norway, pork tenderloin medallions or char-grilled top sirloin steak) and some traditional Danish music and sing-along songs.  Reservations are necessary to Jan Glintborg at 847-742-6158 or email: jwetherbe@aol.com

The Danish Movie Night starts on Monday, October 28 at 7 pm at The Danish Home of Chicago, featuring “A Royal Affair”. The movies are in Danish with English subtitles. The following Danish movie night will be Monday, November 25 at 7 pm at The Danish Home, featuring “Til Jule Bal i Nisseland”.

On Monday, November 18, there will be a Culture Night and Ice Cream Social at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Arlington Heights, starting at 7 pm with activities for adults and children.

The always very popular Family Christmas Party will be Saturday, December 7, starting at 6 pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall, followed by a Gløgg and Æbleskive Christmas party on Monday, December 16 at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 7 pm. At this event, there will also be Christmas Bingo for all ages and there will be crafts for the children.
