NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Danish artist Hélène Mogensen de Monléon in The Chelsea International Fine Art Competition Exhibition. 15% of Agora Gallery’s proceeds from the sale of artwork from the art competition exhibition will be donated to the Children’s Heart Foundation, an organization which supports children who have been diagnosed with congenital heart defects, as well as their families, and promotes awareness and research into this troubling disease. The exhibition is scheduled to run from August 16, 2013 through September 5, 2013.  The opening reception will be held on Thursday night, August 22, 2013 from 6-8 pm.

About the Artist

Hélène Mogensen de Monléon’s evocative photographs capture sweeping landscapes, expressive human stories, and industrial jungles with equal understanding. The photographs are expertly composed, including only the essential elements for an emotional portrait — ground, sky, space, faces. Figures move with purpose, and we feel their energy though we rarely know where they are heading. With a pared-down palette, a laser-like focus, and an incredibly deep-reaching scope, the photographs are both tensely dramatic and achingly true to life.

Hélène Mogensen de Monléon was born in France, grew up in Italy, and today lives and works in Denmark.

It provides artists, collectors, museums, galleries, art organizations and enthusiasts with access to the work of international talented artists as well as feature articles, reviews and interviews. Agora Gallery is the proud sponsor of ARTmine, one of the most comprehensive resources available worldwide to view and purchase fine art. The gallery also runs Agora Art Blog, a blog designed to provide helpful information and advice for artists while providing a forum for artists to help one another by sharing their experiences and thoughts.
