Denmark-native featured in inaugural Elmhurst Art Museum exhibition in Illinois

Lise Haller Baggesen has been selected as one of the featured artists in Elmhurst Art Museum’s inaugural Elmhurst Art Museum Biennial: Chicago Statements, Dec. 12, 2015 – Feb. 21, 2016. Baggesen was born in Aarhus, Denmark and currently lives and works in Chicago.

The exhibition is comprised of nineteen Chicago-based artists with a wide-reaching public platform for their messages, their voices and their revelations that address imbalances of power, access and resources. Through Baggesen’s Morthernism mixed media instillation as well as others, these artists and the collective Biennial exhibition intend to raise awareness, encourage discussion and promote the power of individual and collective expression in the often highly-charged social issues of our day.

On Saturday, December 19 at 2 p.m. as part of EAM’s Holiday Party, Biennial artist Lise Haller Baggesen will read stories about motherhood inside the exhibition tent (complete with pillows and a disco ball!) that is the central feature of Baggesen’s Mothernism installation in Mies van der Rohe’s McCormick House.

Elmhurst Art Museum is located in Elmhurst (IL), 25 minutes from downtown Chicago by car or public transportation (Metra). The Museum is both an international destination for Mies van der Rohe scholars and fans and a regional center where people from Chicago and the western suburbs learn to see and think differently through the study of the art, architecture and design of our time. The Museum is open Wednesday to Sunday, 11 to 5 and Saturdays till 8 PM. Admission is $8 ($7 for seniors) and free for students and children under the age of 18.
