Denmark will host World’s Best Ice Hockey Players in 2018
ENGLISH SUMMARY: The world’s best hockey players will be coming to Denmark in four years. At the International Ice Hockey Union Congress in Minsk, Belarus on Friday, May 23, 2014, Denmark was chosen to host the IIHF Men’s World Championship in Ice Hockey in 2018. DIF begejstret over VM-værtskab
Danmark skal være værter ved VM i ishockey 2018.
Verdens bedste ishockeyspillere kommer til Danmark om fire år. Det står klart efter, at Danmark på den internationale ishockeyunions kongres i Minsk fredag den 23. maj 2014 vandt buddet om at få VM i ishockey til Danmark i 2018.
“Det er utroligt godt gået, at Danmark nu skal være vært i en af de helt store idrætsgrene internationalt set. VM i ishockey er en kæmpe event, og jeg ser frem til, at den nye kommende arena i København og Boxen i Herning kommer til at syde af intens ishockeystemning i 2018,” siger Niels Nygaard. I samme forbindelse glæder DIF’s formand sig over, at Sport Event Denmark netop er blevet sikret økonomisk som en direkte følge af regeringens nye idrætsudspil.
“Vi har hele tiden kæmpet for, at Sport Event Denmark skulle gøres permanent. Gennem de seneste år har Sport Event Denmark opbygget en kolossal know how på eventområdet, og at de nu sikrer VM i ishockey til Danmark i samarbejde med ishockeyunionen samt København og Herning, er rigtigt godt. Stort tillykke fra DIF.”
I budrunden slog Danmark Letland.
VM i ishockey i 2018 finder sted i Jyske Bank Boxen i Herning og den nye kommende Royal Arena i København.
