In the late 1800’s through 1920’s, Kansas City was forever changed as “Vikings” immigrated here. Those hardy Swedes, Danes Norwegians, and Finns established many successful businesses and professional firms thus creating a “Viking” legacy in Kansas City history. On Saturday, September 21, 2013, the “Dead Viking Tour IV” will explore many of the sites designed and built by these exceptional Scandinavians. In Motor Coach comfort, we will travel to social clubs, lodges, churches, businesses, residences, bridges, fountains, manufacturing buildings, and hospitals. This five-hour tour will examine where the tailors, bakers, pastors, musicians, dairymen and women, bankers, shoemakers, millionaires, funeral directors, and cemeteries were located to help advance Kansas City’s growth and memorialize its citizen’s deaths.A catered ”Gourmet Grocer” lunch of chicken tarragon on a croissant, pasta salad, dessert, and a drink is included in the ticket price. A vegetarian meal is available on request with your ticket order.Send $25.00 check per each reservation to SWS/ Deloris Craig 6319 Alden, Shawnee, Kansas 66216 by September 12th.The bus leaves at 10:00 AM from First Lutheran, Tomahawk and State Line and will return at 3:00 PM.This tour is sponsored by the Scandinavian Women’s Society.
