Grundlovsdag 2015 will celebrated at The Danish Home in New York on Saturday, June 6

By Erik Andersen –

The Danish Home, Croton on Hudson, NY is celebrating Grundlovsdag Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Home, with a day-long picnic, church service and speeches and entertainment.

The event begins at 11 AM with Danish-language church service in the Art Barn, presided by Pastor Julie Sløk of Den Danske Sømandskirke i NY.  Food and drink is available from completion of the service. I encourage all to enjoy the Carlsberg and homemade frikadeller, wienerbrød, smørrebrød and strawberries with cream or ice cream!

The program will begin at 12:30 PM with greetings by MC Flemming Heilmann. Ambassador Jarl Frijs-Madsen, Consul General, Royal Danish Embassy, New York will deliver the keynote address, Denmark in New York in the last 5 Years.

Dr. John Mark Nielsen, executive director of the Museum of Danish America, will also address the crowd, talking about current events, programs and exhibits at and produced by the Museum.

Entertainment will be provided by the Swedish Meatballs, a lively band popular in greater NY Scandinavian circles and repeat performers at our event.

The Art Barn, managed by Birgit Jacobsen, features local and Danish artists’ works for sale, and will have a second exhibit of the Danish Home’s Per Arnoldi poster collection.

Raffle tickets, with some great prizes, are available on our website www.danishhome.org, or by calling the Home at 914-271-3052, and telling us how many more you would like.
