How do you fundraise in your organizations during the year?

Danish Sisterhood Dagmar Lodge #4 of Chicago and Danish Brotherhood Lodge #35 of Tinley Park, Illinois had a busy fundraising day on Saturday, November 15, 2014.

Dagmar Lodge #4 members staffed a Danish holiday booth at the 1st Annual International Christmas Market from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Chicago Estonian House in Riverwoods, Illinois.

There was a steady stream of customers to the Estonian cultural center, which is located on 4.5 acres of picturesque landscaped parkland along the Des Plaines River in Riverwoods bordering Lincolnshire, Illinois.

The Danish ladies sold out on their klejner, almond paste (kransekage) cookies and other special treats.

The Sisterhood members had also been busy making holiday crafts to sell, such as heart baskets and ornaments for the Christmas tree.

The 1st International Christmas Market featured an ongoing list of entertainers, including the Leikarringen Heimhug Norwegian Folk Dancers and the Nordic Folk Dancers of Chicago, who took the stage in the Estonian House auditorium.

Danish Brotherhood celebrates 125th Anniversary the same evening

Meanwhile, during the evening of November 15, 2014, Danish Brotherhood Lodge #35 held their 125th Anniversary Celebration and Scholarship Fundraising Dinner at the Viking Lodge in Tinley Park, Illinois.

The 185+ guests enjoyed thick pork chops with all of the trimmings from Hog Wild Catering and could support the Danish Brotherhood scholarship fund by purchasing lucky chances for some great gift baskets, such as a tasty array of items from Iversen’s Bakery in Blue Island, Illinois, a Christmas Basket, a Manly Basket, a Fruit Basket and more.
