Leif Eriksson Fest was held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Des Plaines Public Library in Illinois
The Des Plaines Public Library was the site for the Leif Eriksson Fest on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. in Illinois. The special event celebrated Viking exploration.
Among the guest speakers were Polar Explorer John Huston, Dr. Charles Peterson from the Center for Scandinavian Studies at North Park University (Chicago), Dr. John Mark Nielsen, Executive Director of the Museum of Danish America (Elk Horn, Iowa), and Lorraine Straw, President of Friends of the Viking Ship.
The Norwegian National League of Chicago was the sponsor the event and worked with other Scandinavian groups in the area. For more information on future events, visit www.nnleague.org.
