News from Iowa: Danish Windmill Gala & Chair-ity Auction set for Saturday, November 7, 2015
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Danish Windmill’s arrival in Elk Horn, Iowa from its place of origin in Nørre Snede, Denmark.
On Saturday, November 7th, 2015, the Danish Windmill’s 6th Annual Gala and Chair-ity Auction will be held. It’s a fun evening with a traditional Danish meal topped off by a live auction of whimsically decorated donated chairs.
Organizers invite you to participate in the celebration by donating products or items for the silent auction. You will be recognized in the Gala program as well as the Danish Windmill’s annual report. Cash donations are also welcome and you will receive a receipt for your contribution.
Proceeds from the fundraiser go to the Mill restoration and historic preservation project. Last year the proceeds from the auction totaled $10,500. Organizers would like to raise $15,000 or more this year as matching funds for a Shelby County Community Foundation Grant that were awarded for the restoration project.
For more information about the event, please contact Danish Windmill Manager Lisa Steen Riggs at 712-764-7472 or by email lisa@danishwindmill.com before October 31.
