REMINDER: The Royal Danish Ballet Principals and Soloists coming to New York in 2015
If you haven’t already done so, please mark your calendars for January 13-18, 2015 when The Royal Danish Ballet returns to New York. Performances will be held at The Joyce Theater, 175 Eighth Avenue, New York, NY 10011 (www.joyce.org) on Tuesday 7:30 pm, Wednesday 7:30 pm, Thursday 8 pm, Friday 8 pm, Saturday 2 pm & 8 pm and Sunday 2 pm of that week.
Sixty years after The Royal Danish Ballet’s U.S. debut, principals and soloists from this internationally renowned company perform a fantastic program featuring excerpts from works by August Bournonville, the acclaimed 19th century Royal Danish Ballet choreographer and ballet master who created more than fifty works for the company. A highlight of the Joyce season, this engagement promises to be a memorable one.
Program: A Folktale; The Flower Festival in Genzano; Jockey Dance; La Sylphide (Act II); Conservatoire; Napoli (Act III).

Dance Talk and Dance Chat: The Royal Danish Ballet: Principals and Soloists
Principals and soloists of The Royal Danish Ballet are coming to The Joyce Theater stage in New York on January 13-18, 2015 with a dynamic program celebrating Danish ballet master and choreographer August Bournonville (1805-79).
In conjunction with the visit by The Royal Danish Ballet, two special events are planned.
On Monday, January 12, 2015 at 6:30 p.m., venture to Scandinavia House, 58 Park Avenue, New York, NY for a special “Dance Talk: The Royal Danish Ballet: Principals and Soloists” featuring Danish ballet historian and dance journalist Erik Aschengreen, who will discuss the characteristics of Bournonville’s dance, style, and how the Bournonville tradition has been preserved from generation to generation. Bournonville ballets are distinguished by their positive outlook, in which conflicts are resolved and the lovers are finally united. Light refreshments will be served. All Dance Talks are free. Then, on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, stay with the audience at The Joyce after the curtain goes down for a post-performance discussion with Artistic Director Ulrik Birkkjaer, Dance Historian Erik Aschengreen, and principal dancer Gudrun Bojesen .
