ROYAL NEWS: Danish Crown Prince Frederik in South Africa and Prince Joachim has a new role in the Danish Defense

HRH Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark is participating in a business promotional campaign in South Africa on November 2 – 4, 2015.

The Crown Prince will lead a business delegation with nearly 50 companies to South Africa, which is the largest export market for Denmark in Africa. The Crown Prince will be accompanied by environment and food minister Eva Kjer Hansen and business and growth minister Troels Lund Poulsen.

South Africa is the 33rd largest economy in the world. At the same time, the country is challenged in a number of areas in which Danish companies are strong. Those strengths revolve around the green sector, from which Danish know-how and services can offer solutions, as well as agriculture and food products. The business campaign will focus on energy (sustainable energy and energy efficiency), water and environment (integrated water solutions, technology) and also agriculture and food products (crops, machinery, biomass, livestock and food products).

HRH Prince Joachim of Denmark on November 1 assumes a new position in the Defense as a special advisor

On November 1, 2015, HRH Prince Joachim begins a new position as a special advisor in the Danish Defense in relation to the implementation of the new total force concept, which will strengthen the future use of volunteers in the Home Guard and personnel from the reserve.

The new total force concept means, among other things, that the integration between the reserve and the regular structure is strengthened so that more equal and transparent conditions are established in relation to, for example, education and use.

The work as a special advisor is adapted to Prince Joachim’s other duties. Prince Joachim will not receive a salary, as the Prince receives an annuity and therefore cannot receive compensation for government service. The primary workplace is Defense Command Denmark in Copenhagen.
