SKÅL! SCANDINAVIAN SPIRITS: Kickstarter campaign will help fund new book project
By Nicky Christensen, Museum of Danish America
Recently, the Museum of Danish America in Elk Horn, Iowa launched a Kickstarter campaign to help the museum publish a book of recipes, photos, and essays relating to Scandinavian drinking traditions and heritage – specifically focusing on beer and aquavit. The book is the catalog for the upcoming national traveling exhibition, “Skål! Scandinavian Spirits.”
The Museum of Danish America needs YOUR help to get it published, and they need it soon because the campaign ends on February 28, 2015. If they don’t make the goal, it’s unlikely that such a useful catalog will be produced.
Please visit the website here https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/danishmuseum/skal-scandinavian-spirits-exhibition-catalog to view the video and see what it’s all about.
There are a number of fun rewards that you can earn–including a chance to have your, your family’s, or your organization’s name in the book or exhibit!
The Museum of Danish America would certainly appreciate it if you shared this campaign website link with your friends and family. Every little bit helps!
MORE ABOUT THIS PROJECT: Denmark, Norway and Sweden share a “spirited” tradition of enjoying beer and aquavit – sometimes together, sometimes separately, and often with food that reflects the same heritage.
The Museum of Danish America is in the process of developing a fun, informative, and engaging exhibition that will explore the cultural history of these beverages and follow those drinking traditions to Scandinavian-American communities.
