Stine Nielsen will carry the Danish flag at the European Games
On June 12, 2015 at 21 (local time), the opening ceremony will take place for the first European Olympics ever – the European Games. The Games will be held in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku, and the Danish team consists of 65 athletes. Shooter Stine Nielsen will lead the Danish team carrying the Danish flag Dannebrog during the opening ceremony at the European Games in Baku.
“I think it’s cool that I have been chosen as the Danish flag bearer at the European Games in a strong field with many other talented Danish athletes. I am very proud of the appointment, and I am really looking forward to June 12, when the opening ceremony will take place, ” says Stine Nielsen on her appointment as the Danish flag bearer.

Stine Nielsen bærer fanen ved European Games
Skytten Stine Nielsen går i spidsen for det danske hold under åbningsceremonien ved European Games i Baku.
Den 12. juni kl. 21 (lokal tid) er der åbningsceremoni for det første europæiske OL nogensinde – European Games. Legene finder sted i Aserbajdsjans hovedstad Baku, og det danske hold består af 65 atleter. I spidsen for det danske hold går skytten Stine Nielsen med Dannebrog.
“Jeg synes, at det er sejt, at jeg er blevet valgt som dansk fanebærer ved European Games i et stærkt felt med mange andre dygtige danske atleter. Jeg er meget stolt over udnævnelsen, og jeg glæder mig rigtig meget til den 12. juni, hvor åbningsceremonien finder sted,” siger Stine Nielsen om udnævnelsen som dansk fanebærer.
Det er DIF med chef de mission, Morten Rodtwitt, i spidsen, som har valgt, at Stine Nielsen skal bære fanen med Dannebrog.
“Der var ikke den store tvivl om, at Stine Nielsen skulle være dansk fanebærer ved åbningsceremonien i Baku. Vi har valgt en atlet, som går forrest i mere end en forstand. Stine Nielsen er den første atlet, som sikrede en dansk OL-nationsplads til legene i Rio i 2016, og så har Stine olympisk erfaring fra OL i London,” siger Morten Rodtwitt om valget af dansk fanebærer og fortsætter: ”At gå i spidsen for det danske hold og bære Dannebrog ved en europæisk olympisk åbningsceremoni er en ære. For at blive i sportens jargon kan man sige, at Stine Nielsen er udnævnt som en form for anfører for det danske hold. Hun har talentet og erfaringen, og dermed viser hun symbolsk vejen for de mindre erfarne danske atleter.”
Om European Games: European Games er det første af sin art. Det kaldes også for europæisk OL og kan sidestilles med kontinentale mesterskaber som Asien Games og Commonwealth Games.
