Linda Steffensen, Editor of The Danish Pioneer Newspaper, is headed to Atlanta, Georgia on February 5 – 7, 2015 for the National Board of Directors Meeting of the Museum of Danish America. Linda is on her third year serving on the National Museum Board and she serves on the Development/Marketing/Social Media Committee and the Nominating Committee.

The Steffensen family has had a long involvement with this special and historic Danish museum in Elk Horn, Iowa, and they encourage everyone to visit and support the museum when you have the opportunity. Linda’s late father Editor Chris Steffensen also served 6 years on the national board of the “Danish Immigrant Museum” from 1986 – 1992.

During the upcoming gathering in Atlanta, there will be board meetings and committee meetings. In addition, the board members, supporters and donors from the area will gather for a community luncheon. This is an opportunity for museum supporters to learn what’s happening at the museum. It also gives our twenty-five board members from around the country an opportunity to learn about the activities of local Danish and Danish-American organizations.

The February program will include a presentation by Lars and Hanne Andersen of Maileg North America. Maileg (pronounced my’lye) is an innovative Danish toy company whose mission is “to give kids a reason to smile and to inspire the playful imagination of children of all ages.” In 2012, Maileg North America won a prestigious award from the Danish Export Association for remarkable efforts in promoting and marketing Danish products and services abroad.

In June 2015, the Museum’s National Board will be meeting in Portland, Oregon and in October 2015, the meeting will be held in Elk Horn, Iowa.
