Viking Fest set for May 16, 2015 in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York
Bay Ridge’s annual Viking Fest, sponsored by the Scandinavian East Coast Museum (SECM), will be held on May 16, 2015, from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm at Bliss/Owl’s Head Park, 68th Street & Narrows Avenue Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York. The SECM is happy to announce that they are celebrating the event’s 15th Anniversary.
The “Viking Village Scavenger Hunt” runs from 10:00 am – noon, featuring the Norseman, half-size replica Viking ship and crew, and three re-enactment organizations: the Society for Creative Anachronism, Historic Arms and M.S.R. Kingdom of Acre (Medieval Scenarios and Recreations).
Children and adults are encouraged to become “Vikings for the Day”. Pick up your Viking Treasure Trove Map – find the answers and receive a Viking tattoo. *Please note that these groups will be displaying and exhibiting during the entire event.
The popular “Touched By the Vikings” performances featuring music and dance from cultures that have a connection to the Vikings, include performers: Ellen Lindstrom on accordion, the Clann Eirann Pipers, The Donny Golden School of Step Dance, and YDIR (Young Dancers in Repertory), as well as others. They will also have games, crafters and food.
