VOX 3 Collective in Chicago presents Christmas Program on December 13-15, 2013, with Danish opera Carl Nielsen’s Maskarade planned for January 2014
Special Festival Highlights Denmark in Chicago from December 2013 – March 2014.
VOX is the Latin word of voice, and VOX 3 Collective, an organization that presents both rare repertoire and undisputed masterpieces of vocal art music, will present a series of events called “Music & Masquerades: A Festival of Danish Art and Culture” this winter in Chicago.
This special festival will feature performances and educational programs celebrating the music and culture of Denmark and its northern European neighbors, including Norway, Sweden, and Germany.
The festival kicked off with a Christmas program on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at St. Helena’s Episcopal in Burr Ridge, IL and three additional performances of “Half-Spent was the Night”, with performers and repertoire varying slightly, can be heard at the following places and dates:
* St. Matthew’s Episcopal, 2120 Lincoln Street in Evanston, IL on December 13, 7:30pm
* Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 1650 W. Foster in Andersonville (Chicago, IL) on December 14, 7:30pm
* Irving Park Lutheran Church, 3938 W. Belle Plaine in Old Irving Park (Chicago, IL) on December 15, 2:00pm
“Half-Spent Was The Night” is part of VOX 3 Collective’s “Music & Masquerades: Festival of Danish Art & Culture.”
Continuing events, in various Chicago-area venues, will be featured January through March 2014.
The centerpiece of the festival, with multiple performances January 18 – 25, will be the Chicago premiere of Carl Nielsen’s Maskarade. .
