Voyage to the Virtual on view at Scandinavia House in New York through Saturday, April 4, 2015
The first Scandinavia House exhibition in New York City dedicated to digital, moving image, and light-based Nordic art, Voyage to the Virtual, takes the metaphor of “the voyage” – a concept deeply rooted in Nordic identity – as a starting point for an exploration into the ways contemporary artists are expanding on the human perceptual experience. Combining video, animation, sculpture, light, and interactive media, the exhibition invites viewers on expeditions to the far north, travels through time and space, and perceptual journeys into the realm of the virtual.
The exhibition’s 3rd Floor Gallery Hours are Tuesday – Saturday, 12 – 6 pm (Wednesday until 7 pm) – Free admission – #VirtualVoyage
The exhibition, closing April 4, features the work of Katja Aglert, Elina Brotherus, A K Dolven, Jette Gejl Kristensen & Peter Møller-Nielsen, Petra Lindholm, Ann Lislegaard, Per Platou, Jacob Tækker, and Anders Weberg.
MULTIMEDIA Voyage to the Virtual: Perspectives Available through Saturday, April 4, 2015 #VirtualVoyage – virtualvoyage.org
Created by Rebekka Anker-Møller, Voyage to the Virtual: Perspectives is a video comprising a series of interviews with scholars, theorists, and artists – including Maurice Benayoun, Lisa Blackman, Maeve Connolly, Bridget Crone, Annika Wik, and Voyage to the Virtual curator Tanya Toft – discussing the perceptual journeys we embark on in our aesthetic experiences of contemporary art and digital culture. The video is available online via virtualvoyage.org and Scandinavia House’s YouTube; and also on view in the 3rd Floor Gallery throughout the duration of the exhibition.
