Emma and William are the most popular names for babies in Denmark.

According to Danish Statistics, the most popular names for babies born in 2014 were Emma and William. In all ten Danish provinces, the name Emma sneaks into the list of the five most popular girls’ names in 2014, but the name Emma only occupies first place in half of the provinces.

In the city of Copenhagen, the name Olivia tops the list. In the Greater Copenhagen area, Isabella is in first place, on the island it is the name Liva, Fyn prefers Freja, while in Jutland it is Ida and in West Jutland it is Sofia.

William is the most popular boy’s name in six out of ten provinces. This applies to the Copenhagen area, North Zealand, West and South Zealand, Funen, Southern Jutland and East Jutland. The only province where the name does not place in the top-five is the city of Copenhagen. Here it is the name Carl, which is in first place.

On Bornholm, Benjamin and Villads share first place In East Zealand, the name Victor is the most popular, while it was Lucas in West Jutland and Malthe in northern Jutland.

De mest populære navne til børn født i 2014 er Emma og William, siger Danmarks Statistik. Men zoomer vi ind på landsdelene er der stor forskel på, hvilke navne, der indtager førstepladsen.

I alle ti landsdele sniger Emma sig ind på listen over de fem mest populære pigenavne i 2014, men kun i halvdelen af landsdelene indtager det førstepladsen. Det gælder for Nordsjælland, Østsjælland, Vest- og Sydsjælland, Sydjylland og Nordjylland.

I Byen København er det Olivia, der ligger øverst på listen, 16 ud af 1.000 nyfødte piger i Byen København fik det navn i 2014. Det eneste andet sted i landet, Olivia har fået plads på top-fem listen er i Nordsjælland.

I Københavns omegn ligger Isabella på førstepladsen, på Bornholm er det Liva, Fyn foretrækker Freja, mens det i Østjylland er Ida og for Vestjylland Sofia.

William er det mest populære drengenavn i seks ud af ti landsdele. Det gælder Københavns omegn, Nordsjælland, Vest- og Sydsjælland, Fyn, Sydjylland og Østjylland. Den eneste landsdel, hvor navnet slet ikke er med i top-fem er Byen København. Her ligger Carl på førstepladsen. Den eneste anden landsdel, der har Carl med i top fem er Nordsjælland.

På Bornholm deler Benjamin og Villads førstepladsen. Ingen af de navne er med på top-fem i nogen af de øvrige landsdele. I Østsjælland var Victor det mest populære, mens det var Lucas i Vestjylland og Malthe i Nordjylland.
