Midwest Danish American Chamber of Commerce (MWDACC) Re-Launches with New Year’s Kick-Off Party in Chicago

The Midwest Danish-American Chamber of Commerce has relaunched with a New Year’s Kick-off Party to celebrate the revitalization of MWDACC. The organization has appointed a new board to provide new and strong leadership to guide the activities and promote Danish-American business relationships. The new Midwest Danish American Chamber of Commerce board includes President Rasmus Nielsen, Vice President/Secretary Cathrine Lynnerup, Treasurer Scott Swanson and Directors Soren Nielsen, Linda Steffensen, Nicolai Schousboe, Niels Liltorp and Tor Jensen. Young Scandinavians Club

The Young Scandinavians Club was founded in 1950. The idea was to build a club for newly settled Scandinavians who were far from home, where they could speak their native language and celebrate time honored Scandinavian traditions here in San Francisco. The Danish Sisterhood of America

The Danish Sisterhood was organized in 1883, in Negaunee, Michigan. Early lodges were organized to provide social and financial aid to fellow Danish countrymen in this new land. Today’s Danish Sisterhood has members active in 48 lodges throughout the United States and Canada.

The Upper Midwest Rebild Scholarship Corporation (501c3) offers a scholarship award. The award will help support a semester of study at a Danish university or college by a student of Danish background or who has demonstrated a strong interest and commitment to Denmark and Danish related matters. A Danish Classic

Did you know that Anthon Berg dark chocolate-coated Marzipan Bars are world famous? According to www.anthonberg.com, the Danish favorites date back to 1884 when Anthon Berg first began selling his now-famous chocolates. Like all of Anthon Berg’s products, the Marzipan Bar quickly became popular and was put into general production in 1898.

The Danish Immigrant MuseumThe Danish Immigrant Museum (a non-profit institution) was founded in 1983 to preserve the history of Danish immigration to America. In 1994 the first phase building, reminiscent of Danish architecture was completed, housing significant artifacts important to the interpretation of the Danish immigration story. The Danish Monarchy Today

The Danish Monarchy has existed for over 1000 years and is among the oldest in the world. The Danish Monarchy can be traced back to Gorm the Old (d. 958).
